SABIAN SYMBOLS - CREATION OF 360 CARDS
BASED ON DANE RUDHYAR'S BOOK
It was at the age of 75 that Dane Rudhyar wrote the Sabian System in the form of “an Astrological Mandala”. Drawing inspiration from Chinese Yi King or I Ching, now famous worldwide, he created his model based on 360 symbols as a result of his collaboration with the astrologer Marc Edmund Jones and one of his students, the medium Elsie Wheeler. Channeling the symbols took place in Balboa Park, San Diego in 1925.
A JOURNEY IN CREATION - For many years, I have immersed myself in the art of Astrology. From the age of twenty, I approached the magnificent teachings of Rudhyar, and through his writings my love for astrology was born. Intrigued by this book on the Sabian symbols, it wasn’t until 2021 that the idea of creating this deck of cards came to me. During the autumn equinox of 2021, I began this journey around the zodiac with the sign of Libra. My challenge to myself was to throughout that portion of the day to create a drawing of that Symbol. For 360 days, I traversed the zodiac and its rhythms. An immense journey that allowed me to immerse myself. Revelations – in the form of intuitions and visions – were are part of this creation which materialized day by day. Demanding and unique.

An impressive stack of my drawings formed the basis of these cards. Then I focused on finding colors that participated in the rhythm of this zodiacal wheel. I also paid great attention to ensure that each card showed the cyclical information provided by Rudhyar, so as to capture at a glance where one stands in this cycle. Each card contains the basic text – an image and dominant aspect. In order to let the drawing speak for itself. SOME EXAMPLES OF CARDS AND INFORMATIONS
The Sabian Symbols form an inseparable set of 360 images that follow each other in a cyclically organized sequence. Their structure is based on the numerical structure of the zodiac. «When using the Sabian Symbols in divination, we attempt to connect with what reason cannot grasp, with the hidden part of the symbol, which is within our unconsciousness.
